On Friday, June 7th, the HHF celebrated its 23rd Anniversary Gala at the Universal EventSpace in Vaughan to raise funds in support of its newest major project to improve and enhance Greek School Language Education available at the primary level throughout Canada.
The Foundation has committed a significant amount of funding towards this goal by funding the purchase of new textbooks for students, the development of an online Greek Education portal and will continue to offer – free of charge – a very successful ‘Teacher Training Certificate Program’ which has been developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Education at York University.
With over 700 + in attendance, the evening was extremely successful. Acting as Masters of Ceremonies was actor and comedian Angelo Tsarouchas and the event raised just over $190,000 in NET FUNDS.
Mr. John Dagonas, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, was recognized with the 2019 HHF Lifetime Achievement Award and Dr. Fotini Kavadas from Edmonton, was awarded with the 2019 Award for Outstanding Achievement Under 40 Years of Age. Internationally acclaimed Contemporary Artist, Peter Triantos, made a special guest appearance and shared a few pieces from his collection for guests to enjoy.
The evening concluded with an energetic performance from two of Greece’s rising young stars, Konstantinos Nazhs & DJ Save.
The Foundation would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals, families, donors and sponsors who supported this event and allow us to continue our mission to promote, preserve and advance Hellenic heritage and language within Canada.
