The Hellenic Heritage Foundation is proud to welcome Tim Syrianos as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
Tim is married to Mary Syrianos, with whom he recently celebrated their 25 years of marriage and is the proud father of three daughters, Helena, Athena and Kristin. He is the Broker/Owner and President of RE/MAX Ultimate Realty and RE/MAX Condos Plus, overseeing more than 8000 real estate transactions through six offices across Toronto’s most sought-after neighbourhoods with a team of over 400 agents.
Having entered the real estate industry in 1989, Tim has earned numerous professional designations and has been recognized with prestigious awards—most recently, the 2024 RE/MAX Multi-Office Broker/Owner of the Year.
Beyond his business achievements, Tim has been deeply involved in advancing the real estate profession. Since 2011, he has served on various TRREB committees, held board positions with OREA and CREA, and was elected President of TRREB in 2017/2018—leading the largest real estate board in the world with more than 70,000 members. He was the first and only Greek President in its history. His expertise has made him a sought-after industry voice, with frequent appearances in the media and as a keynote speaker at events such as the RE/MAX Greece Conference, as well as television, radio, and print outlets including CP24, CBC, CTV, Omni, Global, and CFRB’s Ask the Experts.
Now, Tim brings that same passion and leadership to the HHF.
Why did you want to join the HHF?
Having volunteered on other boards and associations, I was unaware at first of the tremendous purpose and impact of the HHF. From the moment I learned more, I knew I wanted to be part of it. I deeply believe in the importance of preserving and promoting our Hellenic heritage while also investing in the future of our community.
The HHF provides an incredible platform to support education, culture, and initiatives that empower Greek Canadians to thrive. For me, being part of the HHF is about giving back, creating opportunities for our community, and ensuring that our traditions and values are carried forward for generations to come.
You’ve attended many HHF events over the years—what is your favourite memory?
Every HHF event has left me inspired, but my favourite memories are rooted in the passion I’ve witnessed among fellow volunteers and in seeing young people participate in HHF Next Gen initiatives.
Watching students and emerging leaders connect with their roots, celebrate their identity, and feel supported by the HHF is always a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Those moments truly capture the spirit of the HHF.
What do you hope to accomplish as a Board Member?
My hope is to help expand HHF’s reach and impact, particularly future projects that leave a legacy for generations to come. Furthermore, I want to engage the next generation and contribute to projects that mentor student councils, provide them with insight on governance, and celebrate our heritage—while also creating initiatives that open doors for all Greek Canadians, whether through mentorship, education, or leadership development.
Ultimately, I want to ensure that the HHF continues to grow as a force for unity, pride, and progress within our community.
You’ve spoken often about the importance of mentorship. What does that mean to you?
We need to lead by example, and volunteering for organizations is contagious. I’m especially proud of Helena and Athena for volunteering and holding positions within their university GSAs, and now Helena has taken on a leadership role within the NHSA as the Canadian representative. Even our youngest Kristin in just her second year of high school is a mentor for newcomers and involved in her school councils.
True leadership is about finding your replacement. That begins by recruiting selfless volunteers that share the same passion who are willing to put their name forward, then guiding and supporting them to take on greater responsibility within the HHF.
As I often been quoted: “As Greeks, we share a passion for celebrating life. As parents, we don’t need to teach our youth how to dance on a table, we need to teach them how to sit at a table.”
That philosophy drives my commitment to mentorship—helping young people develop the skills, confidence, and mindset to be present where decisions are made, and to grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
