TORONTO, February 2013 – The Hellenic Heritage Foundation (HHF), a Toronto based charitable organization dedicated to the preservation, promotion and advancement of Hellenic education, culture and heritage in Canadian society, donated much needed funds in support of Greek Youth Culture and Education last week.
Taking on a role as Lead Sponsor, the HHF presented the Theatre Nefeli with a cheque for $15,000 as a key part of its strategic initiative to support Greek Youth. Theatre Nefeli is a theatre and dance performing youth group which operates under the auspices of the Greek Community of Toronto. A major Theatrical production(s) is planned each year in addition to participation in multicultural events throughout the year. The group has also won many 1st PLACE awards in dance and theatre competitions in Toronto, Chicago and Greece.
In addition to the donation to Nefeli, the HHF also presented the Greek Community of Toronto (GCT) with a cheque for $51,000 dedicated to classroom renovations in the North Wing of the Polymenakion Centre and $27,000 towards the purchase and installation of Computers for a new Computer Lab for the students.
In recognition of these funds, the GCT announced it will be naming the new Computer Lab – the Hellenic Heritage Foundation Room for Higher Learning.
