This Historical Walk is brought to you by the Hellenic Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the HHF Greek Canadian Archives at York University Libraries.
Greektown on the Danforth is the heart of the Hellenic Community in Toronto. Aside from the Greek eateries, businesses, parades and festivals, there’s a deeper story to be told about how the immigrant experience unfolded on these streets. This historical walk will visit many key locations, telling the story of why so many Greek immigrants settled on the Danforth in the postwar years and how the community – and the Danforth itself – evolved. Come learn about the major events that have taken place in Greektown over the years.
