The Hellenic Heritage Foundation launched the HHF Recognition Awards with the goal of recognizing and celebrating distinguished Canadians of Hellenic descent or Philhellenes who have made an outstanding contribution to our community.

Since its inception, we have proudly honoured Supreme Court Justice Andromache Karakatsanis; renowned physician-scientist, the late Dr. Dimitrios Oreopoulos; philanthropist and Blackberry founder, Mike Lazaridis; internationally acclaimed composer Christos Hatzis; legendary opera singer, Teresa Stratas; philanthropist, inventor and entrepreneur, Dr. Savvas Chamberlain; philanthropist and CEO of Achieva Health, Toula Reppas; and one of the world's leading young particle physicists, Dr. Asimina Arvanitaki.

In celebration of the HHF’s 20th Anniversary in 2016, the Awards were expanded to shine a wider spotlight on distinguished Canadians of Greek descent or Philhellenes who have made an outstanding contribution to Canadian society and to the Greek-Canadian community at large: the HHF Lifetime Achievement Award; Outstanding Achievement under 40 years of Age; and Excellence in Philanthropy and Community Involvement. Confidential nominations can be submitted online and will assist the HHF in identifying and celebrating the achievements in our Hellenic-Canadian community.
